I to have been caught out by Platte Media, I keep getting bills popping up demanding £49.99 quarterly. I phoned the number on the bill was told to pay the money and they would send some goods and they would send some disc to uninstall, I said I did not want anything but just get rid of the software thats entering my computer. The girl gave me an address to appeal, but seemed a bit iffy, so at the moment I have left it at this situation. Can I get rid of this garbage myself, and is anything else I need to do to get rid of this mess.
This first happened a couple weeks ago, but it was a few days later that I noticed this was on there, can somebody who help me.

Hello, I have experienced the 'invoice' demands from platte and became so frustrated that eventually and in desperation, I formatted my HDD ( after a backup) and reinstalled my XP and others. This at least got rid of the 'invoice' pop up but I have since received two further demands for 49.99 each at monthly intervals and each suggesting 'further action'.  Well, the '3 month' period is up soon and I view my e-mails with ever increasing trepidation. I reiterate, I did not knowingly enter into any agreement and, except for the 'free' sample ( which proved without doubt that it was not what I was looking for!!!) I have not downloaded any material from this agressive site. To be honest, I am frightened even to view the site again!.

If you haven't given Platte any personal information (or your postcode), I don't think you need be so worried.  There are plenty of methods which seem to have worked for others with regard to removing all of the Platte software.  Given the way it operates, I think you must assume that you have something lingering in your system, unless what you are saying is that you are receiving emails from Platte.

Remember that your IP provider should not reveal any information about you without a court order.

I hope that you have put on record your unhappiness with this company, by complaining to Trading Standards, etc.?

hi everyone. well after around two weeks i have found so answer-ehh about platte. there is some programs out there to remove this software but also they plant stuff in your registry this is why you will keep getting the invoice popping up. i have also gone to the police and spoke to the computer tech people as i work in the same line as them. they stated that if you go to police and state that you wish to give a statement for them then you can and they will then progress it . they will not take you to court because it is a scam for sure. try googling for files to remove platte there are forums that have them in it . hope this help

As per previous posts this appears to be the favourite method of Platte removal (by easypc.co.ok)

1 First of all open My Computer > C:\ > Windows > System32
2 Scroll down to PM_proc1…. (in alphabetical order).
3 Open ‘Task Manager’ by press Alt,Ctrl,Del in order at same time.
4 Click on the Processes tab at the top of the window
5 Find and ‘End process Tree’ the following two files PM_PROC1 & PM_PROC2 so they dissapear from task manager (some times you need to do this in safe mode)
6 Close task manager
7 Click Start, Run, and type regsvr32 -u pm_dll.dll
8 In the windows thats browsing c:\windows\system32 delete the files known as PM_PROC1 & PM_PROC2 along with any other file called PM_######
9 click Start, Run, and type in Regedit
10 Press F3 and type PM_PROC and click the find next button. When it finds a result delete it
11 repeat step 10 again until you find 0/zero results.
12 Close all screens, and delete the icon off the desktop.
13 Reboot.

I carried out a different method prior to becoming aware of this forum (or Michael Pollit's or easypc) but it was not far off the above.... I searched manually within windows/system32 and the Registry.

Sometimes, even "system restore" works fine. Either way, you will be elated to rid yourself of the Platte scum!
